Teeth Whitening is a procedure aimed at improving (lightening) the color of the teeth. There are many different methods for teeth whitening, including:
- Professional teeth whitening: This is the most effective method of teeth whitening and is performed by a dentist using gels based on carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. There are two types of professional teeth whitening:
- In-office whitening: This procedure is performed in the dentist’s office and takes about an hour. The dentist will use a strong whitening gel applied to the teeth.
- At-home whitening: This method involves using a whitening gel and custom-made trays provided by your dentist. The gel is applied to the trays, which are worn for several hours each day over a period of two to three weeks.
- Over-the-counter whitening products: There are many over-the-counter tooth whitening products available, including whitening toothpaste, strips, and gels. These products can be effective for removing surface stains but may not whiten teeth as effectively as professional whitening treatments.
